Representing Survivors of Family Violence in Protective Order Hearings. AVLF invites you to join our dynamic Domestic Violence Project training so that you can take part in representing survivors of intimate partner violence.
The Fundamentals of Being a Guardian ad Litem. Learn the fundamentals necessary to become a volunteer Guardian ad Litem with AVLF.
AVLF provides specialized trainings on dispossessory law and process that include a morning substantive training with experienced practitioners and current volunteers and a guided afternoon observation of a dispossessory calendar, complete with approved observation of the Court’s formal mediation program and a private meeting with a dispossessory court Judge.
While the Saturday Lawyer Program does conduct a substantive training annually during the Atlanta Bar Association’s Pro Bono March Madness, which volunteers are encouraged to attend, no training is required in order to start volunteering with the program. The program is set up to train and support volunteers during and after their chosen Saturday(s).
AVLF does not provide training in this area. Volunteer attorneys are required to have at least three (3) years of probate experience.
Currently, LICAP draws volunteers from the membership of the Bankruptcy Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, our partner in launching this program, but any interested and qualified attorney is encouraged to get involved. AVLF does not provide training in this area, as volunteers are required to already have bankruptcy experience.
