Domestic Violence

If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. For additional safety information, you may contact Georgia’s 24-hour statewide domestic violence hotline at 1-800-33-HAVEN. If you are experiencing abusive behavior and need legal assistance, you may contact our Safe Families Office at 404-612-4316, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

The AVLF Domestic Violence Project’s Safe Families Office (SFO) is Georgia’s only courthouse-based attorney-staffed walk-in clinic offering legal protection and safety planning to the victims of family violence and stalking.

Landlord / Tenant Disputes

AVLF provides free legal representation to qualified tenants in a variety of landlord/tenant disputes, including unreturned security deposits, landlords’ failure to make repairs, deplorable living conditions, and illegal evictions – for example, changing locks, cutting off utilities, putting possessions on the street.
