AVLF at the Movies

September 20, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$15

Please join us for a one-time screening of the documentary film Private Violence, which explores a simple but deeply disturbing fact of American life: the most dangerous place for a woman in America is in her own home. Through the eyes of two survivors, we bear witness to the complicated and complex realities of intimate partner violence. Private Violence begins to shape powerful, new questions that hold the potential to change our society: Why does he abuse? Why do we turn away? How do we begin to build a future without domestic violence?

Following the screening, Kit Gruelle (Private Violence special advisor, film subject, and domestic violence survivor who has worked as a battered women’s advocate and community educator for over 25 years) will join other panelists for an audience Q&A to discuss the issues raised in this powerful documentary. Our goal is to help everyone do a better job as we work together to ensure that Atlanta is a healthier and safer place for all of us.

Admission is $15, and advance registration is recommended. We hope you will join us.
