How Do Tenants Find AVLF?
Tenants often find AVLF through internet searches, word of mouth, or referrals. But a flyer is what brought Ms. Hernandez to a Know Your Rights presentation at the Ponce de Leon public library.
There, Ms. Hernandez met AVLF attorney Cole Thaler, as her English-speaking friend interpreted for her. She explained how her landlord terminated her lease and then billed her for over $2000 that she did not owe. Kayla Bell of King & Spalding quickly agreed to represent Ms. Hernandez. Thanks to Kayla, not only did the landlord drop all charges – he mailed Ms. Hernandez a check for $500.
AVLF is grateful to all of our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, check out the different opportunities we offer.
