Standing with Our Neighbors Program Partners with Legal Community to Launch Toy Drive
Just in time for the holidays, AVLF’s Standing with Our Neighbors Program hosted its first-ever toy and clothing drive. In partnership with Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s Junior Board, top law firms from around the city including Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, LLP; Jones Day; and Taylor English Duma helped spread a bit of cheer for families who go without during the holidays.
AVLF is especially grateful to Kilpatrick Townsend, who hosted a special drive at Atlanta Botanical Garden and collected over 300 toys and books for the children served by our programs.
While this time of the year is meant to be a joyful time, for many families it is a time of great financial challenge and worry. Having to decide between paying rent, buying food or getting Christmas gifts for your children, is not a choice that any parent should have to make. And many times, its the children who suffer the most. Children can pickup on family stresses, which can negatively impact both their mental and physical health.
AVLF is honored to have a network of outstanding partners who never fail to answer the call of duty. Because of the generosity of these amazing attorneys, every child at Gideons Elementary School will have a toy for Christmas. As we enter into 2019, we look forward to providing enhanced services and support for our clients who need it most. We will continue the fight for equal justice, with the hope that every family can enjoy a safe and stable home year-round.
