SWON Partner Firm Kilpatrick Townsend Wins CVC’s IMPACT Award
ASHLEIGH STARNES | SEPTEMBER 12, 2018
On September 12th, the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta awarded Kilpatrick Townsend LLP the Skills-Based Project Volunteerism IMPACT award for their work with Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Atlanta Public Schools.
On Wednesday, AVLF leadership joined Kilpatrick Townsend at the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta’s 21st Annual IMPACT Awards.
The CVC’s IMPACT Awards “honor the best and brightest of corporate volunteerism and civic engagement among Atlanta’s companies.” There are several categories of IMPACT awards, including Business-to-Business Partnership, Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year, Business-to-Nonprofit Partnership, and more.
Kilpatrick Townsend was awarded the Skills-Based Volunteerism IMPACT Award for their work with AVLF’s Standing with Our Neighbors™ (SWON) Program, specifically in the Barack and Michelle Obama academy.
As one of our SWON partner firms, attorneys from Kilpatrick Townsend volunteer their services to clients who come to AVLF through our place-based program at the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy. This year, Kilpatrick attorneys represented 10 households referred through the program, preventing low-income residents from being displaced from their homes.
The firm has shown remarkable dedication to this work, and to Atlantans who need their help.
The firm also “focused additional volunteer efforts on academic enrichment and college/career readiness” by tutoring APS students at the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy, scheduling school events, creating STEM-focused projects, recognizing teachers, and generally supporting families with few resources.
Kilpatrick Townsend is one of the ever-impressive Atlanta law firms continually finding new ways to support AVLF’s mission and APS students and families. The firm has shown remarkable dedication to this work, and to Atlantans who need their help. We are thrilled that the Corporate Volunteer Council has chosen to honor Kilpatrick Townsend with this award – congratulations!
