On Saturday, September 8th, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) and clothing brand Chloe Kristyn combined fashion and philanthropy by hosting a stylish affair at the home of AVLF board member, Elizabeth Finn Johnson.
This wasn’t your typical fashion event. This was a party with a purpose, aimed at continuing the conversation about intimate partner violence, and raising money to support the AVLF domestic violence program.
Approximately 40 notable philanthropists with a passion for social justice gathered from across the legal and nonprofit communities to support the Safe and Stable Families Project. The event included a trunk show presentation by Chloe Kristyn designer Bettina Benson featuring two exclusive Chloe Kristyn purple dresses in honor of survivors of domestic violence.

Attendees received a makeover experience by Dior Cosmetics, as they sipped away at classic wines graciously poured by AVLF Executive Director, Marty Ellin. The most notable part of the evening was keynote speaker, Precious Anderson of the Anderson Law Firm, who spoke about her own experiences as a survivor of a domestic violence, and her new purpose as an advocate.
Anderson stated:
“I lost my best friend to domestic violence, never expecting that one day I would be standing before you all as a survivor of the same epidemic. I was afraid of anyone finding out. I am a successful entrepreneur with my own law practice. Who would ever expect for me to be in this situation? But domestic violence can affect anyone; it doesn’t discriminate against race, religion, or income level.”
She went on to say, “I needed a team of lawyers to help me fight back against my ex-husband. Not everyone can afford that. That’s why the AVLF Safe Families Office is so important, they are able to provide free legal services to those in the most need.”
After learning more about the importance of the event, guests were encouraged to shop away, all in support of AVLF’s Safe and Stable Families program. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of the Chloe Kristyn line and the exclusive Purple Dress Collection goes to support the AVLF Safe Families Office.
