Women of the Board Pack Emergency Kits for Safe Families Office Clients
ASHLEIGH STARNES | JULY 19, 2018
Survivors of intimate partner violence are often forced to flee with no time to plan or pack. The women on our Board of Directors wanted to help.
On July 17th, the women of Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s Board of Directors met at Troutman Sanders for an afternoon of service.
They brought string bags and several boxes of supplies – shampoo, razors, toothbrushes, deodorant, and more – to support survivors of domestic/intimate partner violence who come through the Safe Families Office.
Those who flee their abusers often have little time to plan their exit – and AVLF is committed to providing holistic support for survivors.
Those who flee their abusers often have little time to plan their exit – and AVLF is committed to providing holistic support for survivors. This goes beyond the legal assistance we provide. The Safe Families staff also offers safety planning, emergency assistance, and access to other resources that are crucial to a survivor’s independence.
The emergency kits will be a valuable resource for our clients. We’re so grateful to the women of the Board who attended – and special thanks to Jaime Theriot for hosting the event at Troutman Sanders.
AVLF is lucky to have Board members who are consistently engaged and creative in the ways they support our organization – thank you!
