The COVID-19 crisis puts survivors of intimate partner abuse in great danger. Here’s why Boyd Collar Nolen Tuggle & Roddenbery’s commitment is a game-changer for survivors.
It has been well-documented that in the wake of COVID-19, victims and survivors of intimate partner abuse are facing considerable risks.
Survivors have limited contact with their support networks, greater financial uncertainty, less access to shelters and transitional housing, and a host of other barriers that keep them from reaching the safety and security they deserve.
When the courts re-open, we expect a backlog of TPO cases that will need to go before a judge to be extended for the full twelve months.
The Fulton County Court is now hearing ex parte protective orders remotely, and our Safe Families Office staff is working hard to help facilitate this and provide crucial resources to survivors in this uncertain time.
In the meantime, all protective orders are indefinitely extended. But when the courts re-open, we expect a backlog of TPO cases that will need to go before a judge to be extended for the full twelve months.

As AVLF’s Communications Manager, Ashleigh develops strategy, design, and content for AVLF’s digital and print communications. She’s deeply committed to sharing resources and education with her community at large – and makes it her mission to support AVLF’s programs and outreach in all they do.
Ashleigh is an Atlanta native. Before joining AVLF, she was a Fulbright Scholar in Turkey. Ashleigh holds a Bachelor’s in English and Linguistics from the University of Georgia. She is also a performance artist, and can occasionally be seen performing movement pieces, poetry, and combinations of the two around Atlanta and beyond.
