Shining the Light: Bringing Intimate Partner Violence Out of the Shadows

AVLF’s Safe and Stable Families team was proud to shine a light on the critical issue of intimate partner violence, a reality that too often remains hidden. In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the team partnered with impactful initiatives, including the Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction as part of Mayor Dickens’ No More campaign and the Alma Domestic Violence Foundation’s Paint Atlanta Purple. Together, they launched a movement of purple lights, symbolizing a shared commitment to bringing this issue out of the shadows.

As part of this effort, our team distributed over 75 purple light bulbs to inspire awareness and action. We are deeply grateful to the Mayor’s Office, Spelman College, the Cherokee Family Violence Center (CFVC), the Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office, and many other organizations for their invaluable support in amplifying this message of hope and change.
