AVLF Welcomes New Cristo Rey Student Interns

If you were in the Hilton in downtown Atlanta on Friday, August 25, you probably noticed the lobby was a little different than usual. That morning, the hotel was packed full of cheerleaders who were ushering people inside and up the escalators. This was all part of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s “Draft Day.”

Cristo Rey students pose with staff from AVLF and Lawyers for Equal Justice after finding out their placement for the year.

The high energy event paired students with their new employers, part of the school’s innovative Corporate Work Study Program that allows students to work an entry-level internship.

AVLF partnered with the legal incubator program Lawyers for Equal Justice to bring four new student interns into our offices this year. We are proud to host students alongside big Atlanta companies such as Alston & Bird, Coca-Cola, and MARTA. We are consistently inspired by the dedication of our students in the office, and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring new experiences and challenges to their other schoolwork.

This is the second year we have participated in this program with the Lawyers for Equal Justice. We are able to provide internship opportunities to these young students thanks to support from SunTrust.
