AVLF to Host Georgia Latino Law Foundation Fellow
AVLF is proud to announce that for the second summer in a row, we will be hosting a Georgia Latino Law Foundation Fellow. This summer, Gabriela Medina-Nuñez, a law student at Georgia State, will be joining the Safe and Stable Homes team. In this role, she will be assisting volunteer attorneys and clients, including the Standing With Our Neighbors initiative.
Currently in her first year of law school, Gabriela previously spent a year teaching Spanish in a predominantly African-American, low-income middle school in Augusta. This experience moved her to go to law school. As she put it, “The kids came to school to eat and feel safe.”
Prior to her teaching experience, she worked as a columnist for Hola Augusta Newspaper. She received her Bachelor degree in linguistics and political science from Georgia State University.
Gabriela will represent the Georgia Latino Law Foundation alongside Alejandra Mejia, Jocelyn Calvillo, Andrea Beltran, Martina Echeverria, who will spend their summers at Georgia Legal Services Program, KIND, Atlanta Legal Aid, and the Latin American Association, respectively.
The Georgia Latino Law Foundation’s mission is to increase diversity in the legal profession by supporting the Latino legal community pipeline. Additionally, they seek to increase the Latino community’s access to the legal system by educating and empowering Latinos to join the legal profession.
