If the person who is causing you harm lives in Fulton County and you are looking for a temporary protective order (TPO) to restrict the ability of the person to come near you, please follow the steps below.

There are two ways to begin the TPO process.

Parking at and around the courthouse can cost up to $20.
When you arrive at the courthouse, take the elevator to the 8th floor, turn left when you exit the elevator, go through the door, and turn right to the Family Division/One Stop window. Tell them you want to file a TPO and they will assist you.
***If you want to file a TPO and the person causing you harm does not live in Fulton county, contact Georgia’s 24-hour statewide domestic violence hotline at 1-800-33-HAVEN.

Family Law and Divorce Assistance
AVLF’s family law legal assistance is available only to individuals who have obtained assistance through AVLF’s Safe Families Office, TPO process, or intimate partner abuse/domestic violence programs (see details above).
If you have not received assistance from AVLF through one of our programs, we are unable to assist with your family law matter.
If AVLF’s assistance above may help you, please follow the steps above to start the process.
If you are in the metro Atlanta area, do not receive assistance from AVLF’s programs, and need family law legal assistance, please contact Atlanta Legal Aid at 404-524-5811.
If you are outside the metro Atlanta area, do not receive assistance from AVLF’s programs, and need family law legal assistance, please contact Georgia Legal Services Program at 404-206-5175.
