This year, we’re excited to partner with Martina Tiku, an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Atlanta NAACP.
Equal Justice Works Fellow Martina Tiku is dedicated to helping advance housing justice in Atlanta, and we couldn’t be more excited for this news partnership through the NAACP. Martina’s Equal Justice Works Fellowship project focuses on “improving housing stability in Atlanta by using grassroots advocacy, client-driven affirmative litigation, and tenant education to redress housing-related legal issues and their underlying causes.”
Through this partnership, Martina will be helping our Safe and Stable Homes Project with trainings, drop-in sessions, know-your-rights clinics, and more. So far, Martina has been supporting outreach around the CDC eviction moratorium, as well as conducting research projects, working with law student volunteers, and assisting with our housing programs’ caseload.
Martina’s two-year fellowship will run through September 2022. Her fellowship is sponsored by The Clorox Company and hosted by the NAACP.
About Martina
Martina Tiku is an Equal Justice Works Fellow with the NAACP. Her fellowship project focuses on improving housing stability in Atlanta by using grassroots advocacy, client-driven affirmative litigation, and tenant education to redress housing-related legal issues and their underlying causes. Prior to joining the NAACP, Martina attended Harvard Law School where she focused on client centered advocacy as President of Harvard Defenders, a student-run legal service organization. She also served as the Training Director for the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, the second largest legal services provider in Massachusetts. Martina is a Georgia native and is excited to be back in her community.

Communications Manager
As AVLF’s Communications Manager, Ashleigh develops strategy, design, and content for AVLF’s digital and print communications. She’s deeply committed to sharing resources and education with her community at large – and makes it her mission to support AVLF’s programs and outreach in all they do.
Ashleigh is an Atlanta native. Before joining AVLF, she was a Fulbright Scholar in Turkey. Ashleigh holds a Bachelor’s in English and Linguistics from the University of Georgia. She is also a performance artist, and can occasionally be seen performing movement pieces, poetry, and combinations of the two around Atlanta and beyond.
