Walt Davis is a Partner in the Atlanta office of Jones Day, the largest law firm in the U.S. and among the largest worldwide. At Jones Day, Walt’s practice principally focuses on shareholder litigation and corporate governance matters, and he regularly counsels corporate boards, board committees, and senior management in connection with internal and governmental investigations. In recent years, Walt has been named a “Rising Star” in the area of Securities Litigation by Georgia Super Lawyers magazine, and in 2013, he was named one of the Fulton County Daily Report’s “40 Legal Rising Stars to Watch” in Georgia. Walt is also a graduating member of LEAD Atlanta, Class of 2007.
Within his office and the Firm, Walt has been tapped to serve in several prominent leadership roles. Among them, Walt currently serves as the Hiring Partner for Jones Day’s 140-person Atlanta office, overseeing the office’s recruitment and hiring of law school graduates and lateral attorneys, and also serves on the office’s Diversity Committee. Outside the Firm, in addition to serving on the AVLF Board, Walt currently serves on the Board of Directors of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia. He was also one of the earliest members of the Board of Directors of Kate’s Club, Inc., and previously served on the Board of Directors for Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts.
With regard to his service on the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s Board, Walt considers it one of the singular highlights of his legal career thus far. “Serving on the AVLF Board, which is made up of such terrific lawyers and business leaders, has been a truly remarkable experience. To be able to witness first-hand the amazing work AVLF does on behalf of those most in need in this City has been both humbling and motivating for me, personally and professionally. I hope they allow me to be a part of this organization for a long time.”
In addition to the many hats Walt wears in his professional and civic life, Walt is also a proud husband and, more recently, father. Walt and his wife, Michelle, herself a Director in PwC’s Forensic Services practice, recently celebrated the arrival of their first child, Parker, in January of this year.
