Turning his anger toward the children was the final straw.
Although Ms. T’s husband had been aggressive toward her in the past, it was only recently that he turned his anger toward her two minor children. For Ms. T, this was the last straw. She quickly filed for protection under the law.
But her husband persisted. He was arrested after punching her son, trying to run him over with a car, and spitting in Ms. T’s face. Thankfully, former intern Meredith Rainey Permar stepped up to represent her, and her time at AVLF prepared her well. With Meredith’s help and knowledge, Ms. T walked away from court with an order that forced her husband to cease contact and undergo evaluation for drug and alcohol abuse. Even better? Ms. T was allowed to keep their home, so she and her children no longer face displacement. They can continue to grow in the home they’ve known.
