At Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF), we believe no one should have to stand alone when fighting for their rights.
That’s why we stand with, for, and in support of Atlantans as they demand safe and stable housing and freedom from intimate partner abuse.
As the largest provider of pro bono legal services in Atlanta, we harness the collective power of attorneys, law students, and community partners to provide free legal representation and support to those in need. Each year, over 5,000 Atlantans receive first-rate legal services from our staff and the 500+ legal professionals and students who volunteer with us.
Over the years, we’ve evolved into a nimble and mobile organization, with staff in centrally-located offices and deeply embedded in Atlanta’s underserved communities.
For us, being here means more than just offering legal support — it means showing up when and where people need us most.
While legal advocacy is at the heart of what we do, we recognize that justice goes beyond the courtroom. The challenges our clients face are often interconnected, and stability requires more than legal representation alone.
That’s why we’ve pioneered programs and built partnerships that address the broader issues tied to intimate partner abuse and housing insecurity, including health outcomes, homelessness, and other barriers to stability, and we’re just getting started.
We’re successful because of the resilience of our clients, the passion and innovation of our staff, the expertise of our partners, and the generosity of Atlanta’s legal community. For over 40 years, Atlanta’s top firms and brightest legal talent have volunteered their time and energy to stand alongside our clients in their fight for justice, helping them secure safety, stability, and a brighter future. In turn, these lawyers find that their own personal and professional lives are enriched through the power of service and community.
Together, we’re working to create safe and stable families, homes, and communities.
