October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Here are some resources you can use to take action and spread awareness.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2018
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. To raise awareness around the prevalence of intimate partner violence in Georgia, AVLF will be launching a series of campaigns and events throughout the month of October. We’ll be focusing on empowering Atlantans to share their stories of survival.
Here are a few ways to take action and support for survivors during #DVAM2018.
FOLLOW US FOR RESOURCES.
All month, we’ll be sharing what we know. We’ll explain how to support a friend or family member who is a survivor. We’ll give tips how to spot a domestic violence situation. And we’ll be sharing stories from real survivors.
We’re on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Youtube.
PURCHASE A CHLOE KRISTYN PURPLE DRESS.
Purple is the official color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Local fashion designer Bettina Benson from Chloe Kristyn has designed two exclusive Purple Dresses for #DVAM2018, and a portion of the proceeds goes straight to AVLF. Use the hashtag #PurpleDressProject when talking about this campaign.
Check out dresses here.
DONATE TO AVLF.
AVLF and PADV’s Safe Families Office continues to make great strides in supporting survivors by providing free legal service consultations, referrals, and safety planning resources. Support survivors this month by donating to AVLF.

Everyone reading this plays an important role in helping to spread the message that abuse of any kind will not be tolerated or accepted. Spreading the word online can make more of an impact than you think. It’s important that survivors know they are seen and heard, and that they do not have to be silent.
