Looking to make a donation to Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, but would prefer to give your gift to a specific program or for an event? Check out the other giving options AVLF has.

Many of our regular donors like to dedicate their funding to a specific program. Our three annual fundraising events enable you to support the causes that matter to you and have some fun in the process. Plus, they’re a great way to get to know AVLF.

PurSHOEing Justice, the Beer Tasting & BBQ Battle, and the Guardian ad Litem Benefit each spotlight specific AVLF programs, raise awareness for the issues our work addresses, and emphasize the strengths of our partnerships in the legal community. You can gain entry these events by purchasing individual tickets or becoming a sponsor.

Looking to volunteer rather than donate? We’ve got you covered.

PurSHOEing Justice

February 28, 2019 at King & Spalding

One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Each year, Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) assists more than 1,500 survivors of intimate partner violence and stalking. PurSHOEing Justice is a fundraiser designed to recognize the legal issues facing domestic violence victims and the volunteers and programs that help them.

With its impressive silent auction, PurSHOEing Justice (PSJ) is a fun opportunity to shop for a cause. But it’s also an environment where our featured speakers feel safe sharing their experiences as survivors of domestic violence. You should donate to and attend PSJ if celebrating survivors and the volunteers who represent them appeals to you!

What will my donation support?

The money PurSHOEing Justice raises—including every dollar attendees spend on the silent auction—goes right to AVLF’s Safe & Stable Families Project, which includes our walk-in clinic in the Fulton County Courthouse.

Beer Tasting & BBQ Battle

The annual Beer Tasting & BBQ Battle is a collaborative effort of Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation to raise funds—and awareness—to support critical programs administered by each organization in the Atlanta area.

There is simply no easier or more fun way to support access to justice than at the start of summer, in a great venue, surrounded by delicious barbecue, tasty snacks, and craft beers from all over the United States.

What will my donation support?

The programs of Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Atlanta Legal Aid Society.

Guardian ad Litem Benefit

August 23, 2019 at Warner Bates

In highconflict divorce cases, judges frequently ask to have the help of a Guardian ad Litem to determine the children’s best interests. Poor families cannot afford to hire a Guardian; in those cases, Fulton County judges call Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation’s Guardian ad Litem program for help. AVLF also trains Guardians who are subsequently hired by private attorneys in contested custody cases.

This vital program requires money to operate. Without this benefit event, we couldn’t afford to keep the program running.

What will my donation support?

All of the money raised from this event will aid children of divorce by supporting AVLF’s Guardian ad Litem program.

The funds raised by these three events go directly to specific programs, so they won’t be included in our annual campaign total, give you recognition as a Winetasting sponsor, or get your complimentary tickets to the 2019 AVLF Winetasting. But the generous support you give to our programs through these events will be reflected in your cumulative giving level — showcased on our website, on social media, and in our 2019 AVLF Annual Report (published in early 2020)

But wait, how do I sponsor the Winetasting? That’s easy–By making a donation to the annual campaign of $350 or more.
