Lauren Frazier Joins AVLF

A letter from our new Communications Manager, Lauren Frazier.

Dear AVLF Community,

My name is Lauren Frazier, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Communications Manager here at Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.

I’ve only been a part of the organization a few weeks, but already this feels like a second family. I am most excited to be a part of a community that works tirelessly to provide a helping hand for those in need.

During my first few days with the organization, I received an in-depth overview of AVLF’s signature programs. My first trip out in the field began at the Safe Families Office with a tour led by Lilli Crowe, program coordinator for the Safe and Stable Families Project.

Many of the clients were anxious and even a bit hesitant about being there, but by the end of the day, I could tell they were filled with confidence.

The second I walked through the doors, I knew this office meant business. The room was bustling with lawyers and advocates meeting with clients about their domestic violence encounters. Many of the clients were anxious and even a bit hesitant about being there, but by the end of the day, I could tell they were filled with confidence. They walked away educated on their rights and on all of the resources available to them, made possible because of AVLF and its partners.

My next visit later in the week was with Erik Provitt, Standing with Our Neighbors staff attorney with Equal Justice Works Georgia Housing Corps. Erik’s personality is larger than life, to say the least. Erik makes an impression on everyone he meets, which became abundantly clear during my walkthrough of the SWON program. I was amazed to see the relationship that Erik and his team have with the school-based staff, as well as their roster of clientele. I learned about some of the challenges that local residents face regularly, like mold and pest infestations. This affects not just the family’s health, but their children’s ability to thrive in school as well.

Because AVLF has established a presence in the local schools, parents and children now have access to supportive services that give them a fighting chance against landlords who violate the law and abuse their authority by filing illegal evictions.

In just a couple of hours with the teams, I could tell that this is not just a job. It is a true reflection of their personal character and their leadership. I am truly impressed by the AVLF staff, volunteers, and partners and the commitment everyone has shown for this work. Now that I am a member of the AVLF family, I join a force of individuals who share a true passion for giving back.

I am proud to contribute my skills in marketing and communications to help spread the word about AVLF’s mission, with the hopes of expanding our reach and our impact.

Together, we will create lasting change for children, families and individuals in our community. We all win when AVLF can continue to make investments to help families be successful.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this movement to make lasting change throughout the city of Atlanta. Together, we will continue to inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

Yours in service,
