Free Webinar: Working with Limited English Proficient (LEP) Individuals & Immigrant Survivors of Intimate Partner Abuse (IPA) in Court
November 3 @ 12:00 pm
Seeking legal intervention or any intervention at all is one of the hardest steps a survivor of intimate partner abuse can take. It is also especially difficult for immigrant survivors with limited English proficiency (LEP) to do so for fear of being judged or simply not knowing whether any resources are available to them. Thankfully, section 601 of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. 2000d, provides that no person shall “on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” In this webinar, we will cover tips on working with clients with diverse backgrounds as they navigate the complex legal process as well as provide some useful tools and resources for building language access within your organization.
