The Beer Tasting & BBQ Battle is a collaborative effort of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation to raise funds – and awareness – to support critical programs administered by each organization in the Atlanta area.
Join Us on June 8th
This event attracted 800 attendees in 2016 and is open to all members of – and those touched by – the legal community. Join us on June 8 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 p.m. for the premier legal event of the summer, held this year at Park Tavern.
Atlanta Legal Aid Society
Atlanta Legal Aid Society helps low-income people meet basic needs through free civil legal services. Our work helps our clients deal with some of life’s most basic needs – a safe home, enough food to eat, a decent education, protection against fraud, and personal safety. Our clients have annual incomes below 200% of the federal poverty limit – about $22,980 for an individual or $47,100 for a family of four, and they come from Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties. Last year, our attorneys handled more than 20,000 cases that affected over 45,000 people in metro Atlanta. Founded in 1924 by 17 prominent attorney volunteers, we now have 65 attorneys on staff. Our offices are located in downtown Atlanta, East Point, Decatur, Marietta, and Lawrenceville. Learn more at atlantalegalaid.org.
Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation
Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation strives to be the best legal representation money can’t buy. AVLF is the largest provider of pro bono legal services in greater Atlanta. We directly serve almost 5,000 people each year and reach hundreds more through community outreach and workshops. Since 1979, we have promoted access to justice by inspiring attorneys to provide high-quality education, advocacy, and representation at no charge to low-income families with basic civil legal needs. AVLF’s staff trains, mentors, and supports pro bono attorneys to assist low-income people at critical times in their lives. Our staff and our programs make it as easy as possible for lawyers to engage in meaningful pro bono work.
